DONNIE WHITNEY (1958-2010)
Donnie Whitney, 52, of St. George, Utah passed away September 28, 2010 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, while surrounded by his family. Donnie was born March 5, 1958 in Logan, Utah to Hyrum Whitney and Ruth Hunter Bown. He was the youngest of four children. He spent the majority of his life in Logan, Utah where he attended Logan High School.
He took great pride in the old Logan train station that he restored, which became the restaurant (Café Habanero). He spent a lot of time there with his family and made many good friends. He moved to St. George in 2001 where he spent the last decade of his life and was able to spend some quality time with his mother. He worked for Interstate Rock for the last 7 years. He has always had a passion for music of all kinds from a young age. Donnie lived up to his name. He was known for his quick wit and the ability to connect with anyone. His smile and clever sense of humor will always be remembered. He loved his children who kept him feeling young. He passed too early and will be dearly missed.?Donnie is survived by his four children: Joni (Travis) Hoth, Josh (Marissa) Whitney, Alana (Lance) Williams and Nicholas Whitney; his mother Ruth (Bob) Bown; step-mother Norma Whitney; siblings: Shauna (Scott) Freeman, Toni (Kim) Whitney, Kathy Whitney, Emily Whitney and Jennifer Whitney ; grandchildren: Natasha, Zachary, Carissa, Avery and Quinn. Donnie was preceded in death by his Father, Hyrum Whitney. Also survived by Kohnor, Jake and Samanatha Loosle.?
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 4, 2010, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at the mortuary from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
