Donna Forsberg, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, November 8, 2024 in North Logan.
She was born May 9, 1928 at her Grandpa and Grandma Larsen’s home in Fairview, Idaho. Her parents were Darrel Vern Eppich and Ethel Dorothy Larsen Eppich. She was the oldest of four children and the only girl. As an infant, and very young child she lived on farms in Cub River, Idaho and Trenton, Utah. When she was six, her family moved to a farm in Smithfield, Utah. She attended grades 1-8 at Summit School in Smithfield, grades 9-10 at North Cache, and when sixteen years old she moved to Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Donna then studied at Utah State Agricultural College as an Accounting major.
Donna’s life in Logan had happy memories and she made many long-lasting friendships. Some of her first paying jobs as a young lady included milking the neighbor’s cow, sewing shoulder pads at a dress shop, cleaning the old Budge Clinic, and working at the Bluebird Restaurant until her marriage.
She met Sylvan Forsberg at church. He had just returned from Navy combat service in WWII. They soon fell in love and were married for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on June 7, 1949. They had a lovely reception in her historic home on Crockett Avenue and started life together. They worked hard to make their beautiful home and were blessed with three children.
Donna was a very talented lady. She was a wonderful gardener and her family was blessed by her canning skills. She was an exceptional seamstress and loved to make quilts. She learned to paint and she loved to crochet. Many neighbors, friends, and especially family enjoyed her hand dipped chocolates each Christmas.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Donna served in many positions. She remembered The Singing Mothers in black skirts and white blouses and fun roadshows. When she was on the Activities Committee, she and others washed every dish in the church kitchen before and after every ward dinner. No bottled water or paper plates.
In 1964 Donna started work for Utah State University as a keypunch operator in the computer center. When she retired in 1987 her job title was “Sr. Accounting Clerk for Computer Services”. She said “My name became very well known on campus. I was the lady who set up accounts, changed passwords, got students and professors out of trouble, sent out bills, tracked down problems, etc.” She said the start of each quarter was wildly chaotic though she did get to meet many interesting people from all over the world. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with Sylvan doing temple work, golfing, traveling, and square dancing. She loved shopping with her mother, children, and grandchildren. She even loved to go to the grocery store.
Our sweet mother and grandmother Donna, was always a happy, positive, kind, and fun person. She was the best and will be greatly missed but we know that the reunion on the other side must have been grand!
Our family wishes to express our thanks to the medical personnel, staff, aides, and residents at Maple Springs Assisted Living facility. They have given such wonderful service and care. We express our gratitude to Becky, mom’s hospice nurse. Her care and kindness were unmatched.
Donna is survived by, three children; Lee (Ann) Forsberg, Marjorie (Gregory) Borchert, and Janell (Russell) Durrant; 13 grandchildren;23 greatgrandchildren; and a brother Ken (Brenda) Eppich.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Sylvan; great granddaughter Emma Borchert; parents Vern and Dorothy Eppich; brothers Darrel and Paul.
