Donna Faye Naylor Mortensen

Donna Faye Naylor Mortensen, 83, completed the mortal phase of her life on March 26, 2013. She was born to Hyrum and Ethel Naylor in Logan, Utah on October 8, 1929. She grew up in Logan with her parents and five siblings – Russell, Leora, Dean, Roy, Ross, and Lloyd.

She met a handsome young man, Charles Farrel Mortensen, at a Christmas dance in 1948 and married him for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Utah Temple on September 9, 1949. During the first 30 years of their marriage, Donna and Charlie lived in nine different States across the United States. In each location Donna made many dear friends and faithfully served in the Church. She loves all she meets and all those she meets love her. She was the author of uncountable acts of service and love.

After 30 years of being away from Logan, Donna and her sweetheart returned to Logan, living in her childhood home. She renewed the friendships of those that were dear to her many years earlier, and has made many new friends. She is resilient in the face of adversity. Donna is a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Donna’s interest included music, family history, family, friends, homemaking, sewing, reading, flower gardening, crocheting, temple work, missionary work, travel, gospel study, and family history indexing.

Donna is the mother of five children-Diana (Raymond) Blackwood, JoAnn (Michael) Hermansen, David (Sherrie) Mortensen, Alan Mortensen, and Marcia Mortensen. She loved her children and, with her beloved Charlie, taught them by word and deed. To her children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, she has been a beacon of love, kindness, and service.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, her children, and her children’s children. She is also survived by 3 sister-in-laws Janet and Sharon Naylor, and Leah Christensen as well as an extended family of loving nieces and nephews.

She is a wonderful woman and will be missed until we meet her again.
