Donna Bindrup Gossner

November 15, 1937 — August 30, 2011

LOGAN, UTAH: Our beloved Sister, Mother, and Grandmother passed away, peacefully, at her home on Tuesday August 30th from a recent illness. She was born on November 15th, 1937 to Leland and Lela Bindrup in Logan, Utah. She was the fourth of six children and grew up during some difficult years for our country. She graduated from Logan High School with the class of 1956 and was married to Edwin Gossner Jr. on September 1st of that year. Her first child, Dawn, was born while Dad was away on military training. A son, David, soon followed. The family was completed with another son, John.
Throughout her life she demonstrated a dynamic energy for living, tempered with many periods of health and family concerns. She had a great love for God’s four-footed friends, co-forming the Cache Animal Protection League. She loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities in various wards. Perhaps her favorite calling was that of Young Women’s President. She truly loved her girls and enjoyed spending a week with them running the Salmon River.
Donna worked in many different vocations. She and her husband were among the primary co-founders of Gossner Foods in Logan. After the untimely death of her husband, Eddy, she embarked on a decade of travel and adventure. Those years found her in China, England, Egypt,

Scandanavia, Russia, and the isles of the sea. Perhaps her greatest adventure was a semester abroad at the BYU Jerusalem Center. She was so delighted to accompany a host of twenty-somethings in their sunrise hike up Mount Sinai. She figured that if Moses could do it at his age, that she too, might venture. The next month found them laboring in the Banana fields of a Kibbutz.
Donna always had a great love for learning. She took many classes, in several different disciplines, and eventually graduated as a life-long-Student from Utah State University in 1994. She volunteered in so many roles; in the hospital, as a Guardian Ad Litem, and as a guide for the DUP museum. She so enjoyed serving in the Logan temple.
She is survived by her Sisters Inez Bindrup, and Judy (Alan Hofmeister), and a brother, Jay Bindrup, her children Dawn (KC Jones), David (Dana) Gossner, and John (Taunya) Gossner, Grandchildren; Russell Jones, Nathan Jones, Joshua Gossner, Tawnya Jones, Karren Gossner, Anthony Jones, Jacob Gossner, Elle Gossner, and Connor Gossner, brother-in-law, Scott Hansen, sister-in-law, Patt Bindrup. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Hansen and a brother, LaVere Bindrup.
A garden reception will be held at her son’s home from 7-8 PM, Sunday evening in her adopted hometown of Pleasant View. Please call (801) 540-1679 for directions if you are not familiar with her neighborhood.
Funeral Services will be held at Allen Hall Mortuary (34 East Center Street) in Logan at 5:00 PM on Monday the 5th. There will be a reception held in Donna’s honor for one hour before, and one hour after the services. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery, 700 East River Heights Blvd in River Heights at 10:00 AM on Tuesday the 6th.
We appreciate the fact that this is a holiday weekend. We are anticipating family from out of state. We would be delighted if you could join us at any of the scheduled remembrances. In lieu of flowers you might consider a donation to the Cache Humane Society, or the Utah Festival Opera. Many thanks to the wonderful staffs at Mckay Dee Hospital, Pine View Rehabilitation Home, and Intermountain Hospice. Condolences and memories may be expressed to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net
