Donna Larson Cooper

January 3, 1930 — October 10, 2010

Hyrum, Utah: Donna Larson Cooper, 80, died on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her home in Hyrum, Utah.
Donna was born in Logan, Utah, on January 3, 1930, to LeRoy Larson and Nellie Hansen Larson. She grew up in Hyrum and attended Lincoln Elementary through grade 8 and then graduated from South Cache High School.
She married Mark A. Cooper in Hyrum, Utah, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. They were happily married for close to 60 years. She faithfully served in the Hyrum third and later fifth ward as primary teacher, Librarian, and visiting teacher.
They were the parents of 5 children, Deaun Lape of Hyrum, Denis Mark Cooper, (Sherleen) of Hyrum, Ralph LeRoy Cooper of Hyrum, foster children, Cecil Curley (Yvonne) of Orem and Monty Curly of Washington State.
Her first children were twins and she often related how much work it was to have 2 babies at one time and how much help her mother and father gave to her.
She loved to bottle and can fruit and vegetables from her garden, salvaging the last tomato or juicing the last of the grapes on her vines brought special pride to her. She loved to tell of the trips with her dad and mother to Poke, their dry farm in Pocatello Valley near Malad, Idaho. Driving at age12 and cleaning out their cabin for the summer months of farming. Cleaning her home was a great joy to her.
She loved and enjoyed her 13 grandchildren. Taking the boys fishing and driving her car through the river and stalling out in the river. Coming back with the grandchildren, and not telling Grandpa of her little adventures, or why the floorboards of the car were wet. Feeding the grandchildren peanut butter and homemade jelly sandwiches. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her 3 year old grandson said her favorite place to eat was Chuck-a-Grandma in Ogden. This caused her to smile and she had a beautiful smile!
She lived in Hyrum all of her 80 years, she worked at the old Bean Factory, and loved her job as a reading aide at Lincoln Elementary and South Cache. She was forced to retire when diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. She has valiantly strived to live as normally as possibly while fighting the debilitating effects of this disease. I'm sure she is running through fall foliage and enjoying being free at last.
She loved the people and her job working at the Logan LDS Temple. She had many friends from her time there. She enjoyed "Club" with her group of friends going out to eat every month. Donna loved their condo in Florence, Arizona, where she and dad went every winter for several years. They loved rock collecting and exploring the desert surrounding them. She enjoyed the Hyrum Senior Citizen Center and went 2-3 time every week. She especially loved Friday Bingo Day. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mark and her brother Roy Dee Larson (Zora of Nibley).
She is survived by her 5 children and 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Hyrum 10th Ward LDS chapel at 125 North and 400 West, Hyrum, Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Hyrum City Cemetery at 12:00. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
