1929 – 2010
Don R. Clawson, of Hyrum, passed away at home, June 11 with his daughter Kay by his side.
He was born September 5th, 1929 to Alban T. and Vinnie Nielsen Clawson, the 9th of 11 children.
Don graduated from South Cache High School and graduated from Utah State University in 1956 with a B.S. Degree in Economics. He also served an LDS mission in the Southern States. He was an officer in the U.S. Army Finance Corps for two years before joining Thiokol Corporation in December 1958. He spent 31 years in management positions in the Human Resources field before retiring in 1989.
Don married Janice Jensen in Mantua, Utah. She survives him as do two sons and one daughter, Matthew , Hyrum, Robert (Britt), Providence and Kay, Logan and One very special Grandson, Caden Matthew Clawson. Also surviving are two Brothers Wayne (Betty Jo), Ray (Mary Ann) both of Salt Lake City. A Sister-in-law Bonnie Clawson, Hyrum and a Brother-in-law, Vernon M. Buehler of Logan.
Don appreciated the beauty of nature while in the mountains with family and friends or skiing with his buddies and working in his fields. He enjoyed plowing and anticipating future harvests. He was a speller and word puzzle whiz.
Don loved his hometown of Hyrum and served a term on City Council. He was a good citizen. He was proud of his heritage and was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters Fern, Gwen, Muriel, MaRee, Helen and Marlene and by two brothers, Alan and Jack.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven S. Salisbury and his staff and CNS Hospice for their care and compassion in our time of need.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 12:00 noon, in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street, Logan. There will be a family viewing at 10 a.m. and a visitation for friends from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery.
