Doral Dee Perkes, 91, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, surrounded by family at home in St. George, Utah.
Doral was born April 24, 1932 in Hyde Park, Utah, the youngest of 14 children, to Thomas and Rhoda Perkes. He lived in Hyde Park and then later moved to Logan.
He attended grade school at Hyde Park School, junior high in Smithfield, and high school at North Cache in Richmond.
He married Camille Thurston in 1951 and they had three children: Peggy, Eva, and Kevin Ray (deceased). Camille later passed away in 1957.
In 1960 he married Jeannette McAffee who was raising two children: Kevin and Pamela (deceased). Together they had two sons: David and Brett. Jeannette passed away in 2010.
In 2010 he married Kathy Heaps who stayed by his side until his passing.
Doral worked several jobs including Ogden Utah General Depot, Fur Breeders Association, and Cache Valley Dairy Association. In 1977 he and business partners started Mountain Farms Cheese in Hyde Park, Utah and later moved the business to Logan. He worked at his business until 1990, then retired and spent the winters in St. George, Utah.
Doral was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served in numerous church callings, and served three church missions. Most of all he loved and was dedicated to the church choir.
Doral loved to fix things, build things, fish, hunt, water ski, snow ski, golf, play card games, sing, and dance. Most of all he loved to be with, have fun with, and celebrate with his family of 7 children, 30 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Heaps Perkes; daughters Peggy Balls (LeRoy), Eva Carpenter (Sid); sons Kevin McAfee, David Perkes (Cindy), Brett Perkes (Lana); and brother Larry Udell Perkes.
Viewings will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. The funeral and viewings will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah.
Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
