Doris Lucille Holguin Powers, 74, passed away at home June 16, 2017, in Logan, Utah.
She was born March 17, 1943, in Santa Ana, California, to Manuel Holguin and Ramona Witron Holguin. She grew up in Santa Ana with one sister and seven brothers. Doris and her sister Dorothy together joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1957. She loved the gospel and was a faithful member until the end. She loved teaching Sunday School and working in the library.
After graduating from high school she attended a year at BYU. She worked as a bank teller and also worked for the Santa Ana School District as an elementary school teacher for the migrant children. She married Martin (Marty) Powers in 1973; they later divorced in 1984. They had two children, Shelley Ramona of Santa Ana, California, and Benjamin Bruce of Logan, Utah.
Doris was a sweet, little, independent lady with a beautiful loving smile and a friend to everyone she met. She loved her children more than life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Gary Holguin (stillborn), Robert and Steve Trujillo. She is survived by her two children, one sister, Dorothy Foss, brothers, Manuel Jr., Joey, Darryl, John Holguin and Leroy Edward Trujillo, and nieces and nephews.
At Doris’s request she will be cremated and buried next to her parents at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, California.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the Logan Utah Cache Stake Center, 280 West 1200 North in Logan. Condolences may be expressed online at
