Doris Hyde Burrell passed away from natural causes at her home on January 2,2010 surrounded by family. She was born July 6, 1923, in Logan, Utah to J. William (Whip) and Della Low Hyde. She was raised in Hyde Park and attended local schools, graduating from North Cache High School in 1941. She married Lynn N. Carlson in the Logan Temple on Sept. 17, 1942; the marriage later ended. She married Hubert Lynn Burrell Dee. 8, 1951. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.
In her youth she was a member of the North Cache High School marching band (playing coronet) and participated in track and softball. She particularly loved to dance. Doris was the 1941 Cache County Rodeo Queen. In her later years she played fast-pitch softball, was in a bowling league and especially enjoyed hunting. She loved cooking for her family and keeping a good home.
In 1961 Doris began working in the office of her brother, Dr. Charles L. Hyde, and continued there for many years. In 1993 she retired from the USU Bookstore where she enjoyed a long career of 24 years.
She is survived by three of her children, Peggy Carlson Skaggs of Park Ridge, N.J., Janet Carlson Karren (Dale) of Farmington, Utah, Burt Hyde Burrell of Midvale, Utah, and six grandchildren (Kimberly, Dana, Ryan (deceased), Ted, Colby and Sabrina).
She also has eight great grandchildren. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Jane Nyman and Jean Nyman. Preceding her in death are her husband Hubert, son James Bradley Burrell and brothers Charles L. (Chuck) Hyde, Rosel (Tod) Hyde, and sister-in-law Gwen Burrell Lipscomb.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. and the Allen Mortuary of North Logan located at 420 East 1800 North, and also on Wednesday, January 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the funeral service at the Allen Mortuary at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Hyde Park City Cemetery.
