TREMONTON, UTAH - Dorothy J. McDonald, 92, our dearly beloved Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on March 4, 1917 in Providence, Utah, the daughter of Godfried Valdermar and LuElla Frank Jensen. She graduated from South Cache High School, where she had the lead in many musicals and operetta’s.
She married Grant H. Nelson in the Logan LDS Temple. There were six children born into this union, Bruce, Larry, Scott, Kathy, Michael and Dorothy Jean. She then married Don A. Steffenhagen and had two daughters, Tena and Ellie. She was married to Howard Aller for 10 years. She then moved to Kirkland, Washington where she married Ray McDonald. After his death in 1988, she moved to Preston, Idaho and lived there until 2006. Dorothy resided at Legacy House of Logan for three years, then moved to live with her daughter and family in Tremonton, Utah.
Dorothy took great pride in all that she did. She was a talented seamstress, she played the organ and the violin and had a beautiful singing voice. She did many beautiful needlepoints. She loved working in the garden, she had beautiful flowers and always grew enough food to feed family, friends and neighbors. She worked endless hours providing for her children. She worked for Mode-O-Day for twenty-five years, Farr West Garments in Seattle, Washington, and retired from Wurlitzer Piano.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Jeanne (Craig) Nielson, Garland, Utah, Tena (Marlin) Widdison, Tremonton, Utah, Ellie (Robert) Tallada, Preston, Idaho. Son-in-law, Brick Scott, Washington, daughter-in-law, Diane Nelson, Oregon, daughter -in-law, Eileen Nelson, Smithfield, Utah, and one brother, Hal (Noreen) Jensen, Ogden, Utah. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, four sons and one daughter, Bruce Grant Nelson, Larry James Nelson, Scott Lee Nelson, Kathy Ann Scott and Michael Joseph Nelson, one grandson, Guy Lynn and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Friends and family may call prior to the funeral from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
