LOGAN, UTAH: Loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Dorothy Nancy Hill Pope passed away November 28th, 2011 surrounded by all of her nine children. Dorothy was born May 3rd, 1931 in Leadore, ID, one of four children of William Beckstrom and Dora Caroline Petersen Hill. She attended Ricks College after graduating from Leadore High School. She married Wendell L. Pope in September 1950, and they subsequently divorced after 28 years. She raised her family in Germany, California, Wisconsin, and Utah. Afterwards, she attained her life-long dream of serving an LDS mission in New Zealand.
Being a mother was Dorothy’s greatest joy. A certain delight and pride would light her eyes when she spoke of her children and grandchildren. Dorothy had an infectious, effortless laugh that could instantly fill a room, warm a heart, and brighten a day. She expected and engendered goodness and kindness in every person she met. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sincerity, faith, and strength.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother, Sheldon, who died in infancy, and her twin brother, Donald Hill. She is survived by her sister, Lillian McIntire, and her nine children Keith (Susan) Pope, Kathryn (Stan) Stewart, Mary Ann (Brad) O’Connor, Marcus Pope, Linda (Carl) DuHadway, Anna (Dennis) Pope, Malcolm (Heidi) Pope, Kevin (Rodrigo) Pope, Tamara (Shane) Roghaar.
