Douglas H. Archibald

September 24, 1962 — October 21, 2016

SMITHFIELD - Douglas H. Archibald was born September 24, 1962, in Logan, Utah, to Margaret and Theron Archibald of Smithfield, Utah. He died after a long fight with prostate cancer that had masticated to his bones on October 21, 2016 with his family by his side just like he wanted.
Doug enjoyed growing up with his brothers in Smithfield. He attended North Cache middle school and Skyview High school where he played football, and enjoyed water skiing during the summers and snow skiing during the winter. He graduate from Utah State University with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tallahassee, Florida. Following his mission he married Sharla Thompson in the Logan LDS temple on February 27th, 1987 and has raised 6 beautiful children together. Doug was a hard worker and through the years was employed at UPS.
He enjoyed doing anything that involved his family, his boat and water. He was an avid water skier and loved taking his children out to the lake any chance that he could. When it was too cold to ski on the water he would go snow skiing, which he enjoyed doing with his wife and children also. He spent as many hours as necessary to make sure everyone was having fun in whatever the activity was. He loved teaching life-lessons and was a very practical gift giver. He was always looking out for his children’s needs. Lake Powell was his heaven on Earth, especially when there with his children.
He was known for his love for carpentry and was willing to help anyone build anything they wanted down in his shop at home. With this love for wood-working, he built the house which his family now lives in and have enjoyed many wonderful memories.
Doug was known for his charitable and altruistic personality and his selflessness. He helped many people when they needed a listening ear, a car fixed, snow plowed, or a blessing given; at whatever time of day it was he would be there.
He was very proud of his accomplishments in life, and most importantly very proud of his family. He knew he would have all girls in high school so when one of their children was a boy he was ecstatic to know that he would have a child that would carry on the last name Archibald. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings that he loved. He was a devout disciple of Jesus Christ and lived his life as an example for others.
He is survived by his wife, Sharla, and their six children: Nicole (Brad), RileeJo (John), Shayla, Hallie, Adam, Anika; and 3 grandchildren.
