E. Lee Mckenney

October 21, 1946 — October 2, 2018

E. Lee McKenney passed away October 2, 2018 peacefully in his home following a short bout from cancer.
Lee was born October 21, 1946 to Ray and Ellen McKenney in Logan Utah. He married JoAnn Walker in 1967. He was drafted into the Army shortly after and served 2 years in the Vietnam War. During his service he earned several medals, including Vietnam Service Metal with four Bronze Stars and was awarded The Purple Heart. The War changed his life forever, he never talked about his time in the service. We are ever indebted to him for his service and sacrifice to defend this great nation.
Upon returning from the war he worked briefly for Pepsi and then began a lifelong career working for Jack B. Parson Companies. When he retired in 2016 he had worked for JBP for 45 years. During most of that time he operated the asphalt hot plant in Brigham City. He had the cleanest hot plant around and this is where he earned his nick name Me Do. “You watch, me do”. Many of the roads throughout the valley are paved with the asphalt that Lee made. He was a man of many talents. He was a quiet and private person but those that knew him valued his friendship.

When Lee wasn’t working his real passion was his Red 1976 Chevy Pickup. He spent many hours restoring, washing, waxing and making sure it was always clean and then washing again. This was his pride and joy. If you could take things with you to the hereafter, he would have drove that truck right into heaven.
After retirement he found a great talent in woodworking. He spent many hours in his garage creating various trucks out of wood. His favorites were the 6-axle dump trucks and pup similar to the JBP trucks. Those will forever be cherished.

For those that were able to spend time and have a conversation longer than 5 minutes with Lee, consider yourself lucky and rare.

Lee is survived by his wife, JoAnn. His two daughters Corey (Kyle) Wood and Jennifer (George) Lundy and 7 grandchildren, Clayton (currently serving in The Oregon Portland Mission), Austin, Devyn, Madison, Hunter, Gunner and Fisher.
Also, siblings Laurel McKenney and Paul (Sherrie) McKenney.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Ray and Ellen McKenney, Sister Gail (Craig) Larsen.
A private graveside memorial with military honors will be held Monday October 8, 2018 at the Logan Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
