Logan – Edith Duersch DeSpain, 76, passed away from renal failure, May 5, 2016.
Born November 16, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, to Fred Sr. and Anna Duersch. Married Dean DeSpain in 1970 at the Salt Lake City Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Logan High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from Utah State University with a degree in business education with a minor in English. She taught at Preston and South Rich High Schools as a business and English teacher. She worked in the Music Department at Utah State University as an Administrative Secretary for 20 years where she then retired. She holds the type record to this day, for the fastest typist at Utah State University. She was a ward organist for 25 years and a relief society pianist. She played the flute, accordion, piano, piccolo and organ. She played in the Cache Valley Community Band, and was a visiting teacher and an aide at Bridger Elementary School. She was also an editor of the Taste of Home magazine. She loved cooking, music, family and Christmas.
She is survived by daughter, Tracy, (Despain) Swenson of Smithfield, Utah; daughter Stacee DeSpain of Logan, Utah, grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Boyce, Cassidy Boyce, Angel DeSpain, Ethan DeSpain, and Willow DeSpain, great-grand children, Aiden and Xavier DeSpain, and Daxon and Makaea Boyce; brothers Fred (Gerry) Duersch Jr of Logan, Utah, Wilford (Karen) Duersch of Wellsville, Utah, George (Merl) Duersch of Nibley, Utah, William (Vicki) Duersch of Roy, Utah, and John (Beverly) Duesrsch of Hyrum, Utah and numerous cousins. Proceeded in death by Tony DeSpain (son), Anna Suess Duersch (mother), Fred Duersch Sr (father), and Darrin Duersch (nephew).

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Noon at the Bridgerland Park 2nd Ward Chapel, 280 W. 1200. N., Logan, with a viewing prior from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM and on Monday evening at the church from 6-8 PM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
