LOGAN, UTAH - Edna May Prigmore Milligan, 91, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 in Logan, Utah. Edna was born May 2, 1917 in Farmington, Utah, the third of five children born to Charles H. and Bertha Windross Prigmore, English immigrants. Edna grew up in Kaysville, Utah, graduating from Davis High School in 1936. Four years later, she graduated from the A. C. (USU) in Logan. She taught elementary and secondary school in Davis County for several years. During WWII, she was a Wave in the Navy in New York City.
While attending the Berkeley Ward in California, Edna became reacquainted with Horace James (H.J.) Milligan, a Navy dentist whom she had first met in college. They were married in November of 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple and made their home in Logan. Edna and H.J. are the parents of seven children: Jean Malouf (Ron), North Ogden, Utah; Marilyn Adams (Gary), Idaho Falls, Idaho; Kathryn Conlin (Reed), Nibley, Utah; Marsha Walker (Ralph), Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Kent Milligan (Deb), North Salt Lake, Utah; Ron Milligan (Jodie), Cove, Utah and James Keith (deceased).
Edna excelled as a full-time homemaker and mother. Her life was a great example of work and service to others. Edna, a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in many teaching and leadership callings in the Logan 11th and 13th wards. She worked in the Logan Temple, and in 1993 she served in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission with her husband. With her husband she traveled throughout the U.S. and in many other countries, visiting with her relatives in England several times.
Edna is survived by her six children, twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren, and two brothers, Eugene Prigmore, (Leola), Kaysville, Utah and Wallace Prigmore, South Jordan, Utah, and her sister-in-law Helen Milligan, Logan, Utah. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, H. J., in 1998, an infant son, James Keith, her sister, Rose Flint, and her brother, James Prigmore.
Funeral services for Edna Milligan will be held Thursday, Feb. 26 at 11:30 A.M. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, with a viewing prior to the service, starting at 10:00 A.M.
