Edris K. Hartvigsen, 93, with her son Ferrin at her side, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 do to incidences of age.
Edris was born on May 1, 1917 in Petersboro, Utah, the second of four children of John Henry Kidman and Vivian Affleck Kidman. She attended school in Petersboro and Hyrum, Utah. She married Ephriam J. Falslev and they made their home in Benson, Utah. Together they raised one son, Ferrin J. Falslev. In 1964 to 1966 the family served a work mission in London, England where they helped build the South London Stake Center. They were later divorced and in 1976 she met and married Senator Lester A. Hartvigsen of Malad, ID where she gained three sons, Jim, Eric, and Kim Hartvigsen. She is a member of the LDS Church where she served in the Primary, Relief Society, and as a Stake Dance Director. She had a deep love for the beauty of nature and was an avid bird watcher. She will always be remembered for her special gift of growing beautiful flowers most especially begonias, roses, and sweet peas. She will also be remembered by many for her heavenly homemade melt in your mouth chocolates, especially cherry chocolates and caramel, apple pie, and homemade rolls. She made with love and talent many award winning Afghans and quilts that some of us were blessed to receive and cherish. For many years, Edris was a self employed beautician, serving people from all over the valley out of her little shop in Benson.
She is survived by her sons, Ferrin (Sheila) Falslev, Jim (Becky) Hartvigsen, Eric (Anna) Hartvigsen, and Kim (Laurie) Hartvigsen, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hartvigsen, her parents, and her siblings, Kenneth Kidman and his wife Nettie, Lloyd Kidman, and Jean Kidman Blakeley and her husband Darrell Blakeley, and several nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to Floyd and Dina Neagle and their family for the loving and tender care given to Edris as well as the attention given to her yard. A thank you to Judy Shelton. We appreciated her willingness to travel to where ever Edris was to do her hair. We thank Dr. Steven Salisbury and his staff, the sweet staff at Williamsburg Assisted Living, the CNS Hospice most especially Julie and Lacie along with their professional and loving co-workers who gave such gentle care to our mom.
