WELLSVILLE, UTAH - Edward (Ted) Jones Hall, 78, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2012 at McKay Dee Hospital, in Ogden, Utah due to complications following heart surgery.
Dad was born to Parley Gunnell Hall and Belva Jones on Sept. 30, 1933 in the family home in
Wellsville, Utah.
Dad grew up on the family farm where he was taught the value of hard work, a trait he passed on
to his children.
Dad received his early education in Wellsville, graduated from South Cache High School, and
studied at Utah State Agricultural College.
Dad volunteered for the draft and served in the US Army for two years during the Korean
Conflict. He received his basic training at Fort Ord, California and served in Okinawa, receiving
an honorable discharge.
On August 31, 1956, dad married his sweetheart, Ruth A. Noyes in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was employed with Jack Parsons until he was hired at Thiokol Corp, retiring after 35 years.
Upon retirement he worked for Wellsville City during the summer.
He was very active in church, serving in various ward and stake callings. He especially enjoyed
working as the Stake Clerk and in two Bishoprics.
Dad loved his country, and instilled that in his children. He also loved and took pride in
Wellsville City and his pioneer heritage. He served as a Charter Member of the Wellsville City
Fire Department, City Marshall, Beautification Committee, and Variance Committee.
Dad had a beautiful bass voice and enjoyed singing with the Wellsville Mountaineers and in
various ward and city choirs. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his kids.
He was an avid Aggie fan, and loved working the ball games with Max.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth; children, Sheralyn Oviatt (Mike); Barbara King
(James); Steven (Machelle); Darrin (Lisa); Larry (Teresa); 16 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren; sister, Wilma; brother, Francis (JoAnn).
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eva and her husband, Mark Smith.
Funeral services will be held Monday July 23 at 12:00 in the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center Street in Wellsville.
There will be a viewing at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan on Sunday, July 22 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and Monday at the Stake Center from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to services. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at

Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery with military honors.
