Edward Seth Peterson, 88, died Tuesday May 20, 2014 in St George, Utah.
Born June 18, 1925 in Newton, Utah to Christian Andrew and Elizabeth Anderson Petersen.
His father died when he was 6 years old and the children learned to work hard to help take care of the family's needs.
He attended schools in Newton and graduated as Valedictorian of his class at North Cache High School. He joined the U.S. Navy near the end of World War II. Returning to Newton, he owned and managed a Cafe and grocery store for several years.
He was a master of the Morse Code and for several years was a communication officer for the Joshua Hendry Corporation, a large commercial shipping company out of Los Angeles, California. He traveled all over the world and visited many countries.
He married Carma Olney on November 12, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1959 they moved their young family to Los Angeles, California.
While there, they owned and operated the Round-Up Motel in Arcadia. After the boys were grown, they moved back to Cache Valley and settled in River Heights.
He is survived by his wife, Carma and his three Sons: Cory L. (Nancy) Peterson, Cedar City, Utah; Jeffrey Edward Peterson, River Heights and Robert Matthew (Georgie) Peterson, Newbury Park, California. Four Grandchildren: Cody, Justin, Nathan and Kate.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Brothers, Vance, Jim, Don and Bob. Sisters: Iven, Martha and Lethia.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield, 85 South Main, from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at
