Edward L. France (Roy), 91, passed peacefully of natural causes on November 17, 2009 in Logan Utah. Born May 12, 1918 in Centerville, Utah to Charles E. France and Emma Ellen Woolley. Married to Jean Hylton of Heber City, Utah on December 18, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean, his daughter Kay Gardner (Robert), and his two sons Glen J. France (Lyniss) and E. Paul France (Cynthia). Roy and Jean are proud of their 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Roy's professional life includes many years as a teacher and professor at Utah State University in the Automotive and Industrial and Technical Education departments and in various positions in the North Logan City government. He is a veteran of WW II having served in the United States Navy. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in a variety of positions in the scouting organization, in ward and stake leadership, and with his wife as family history missionaries. He loved and is beloved of his family, found peace and joy in everything related to the outdoors, and cherished opportunities to help and serve others.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan, Utah. A viewing and memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the North Logan 1st Ward Chapel located at 1105 East 2100 North in North Logan, Utah. Viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 am with the service starting at 11:00 am. Internment will be in Centerville, Utah that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
