LOGAN - Elaine, our beloved mother and grandmother, left us on September 9, 2012 to begin the next chapter of her life in the Spirit World.
Elaine was born in Nibley, Utah on June 1, 1924 to Eben Grant and Vanetta Mae Olson Dutson. She is the oldest of five daughters.
She grew up on a farm on Hollow Road, near Blacksmith Fork Canyon, and attended Millville School and South Cache High School. She married LaVerl Perkins on June 20, 1941 in the Logan Temple. They were later divorced. She married Phillip Jerene Jensen on July 3, 1950, and late in life she married Allan McQuarrie.
Elaine became the mother of six children: Sherry Boehme (Dave), Daria Bitters (Art), Jeneene Lucas (Wyman), Debbie Budzenski (Barry), Garth Jensen (Susan), and Lenny Barker (Tyler).
She has 24 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren (another on the way); and 12 great great grandchildren (one more on the way).
Elaine always loved life. She found joy in the beauties of this world. Music and dancing were her lifeblood and reading was her passion. Her family was the center of her life.
To know Elaine is to love her. She was a great friend. A true statement about her is that no matter where she travelled in this world, she always ran into a friend.
Elaine worked hard all her life – not just in raising her children.
She was an LPN at St. Vincent’s hospital in Billings, Montana where she and her family lived for 17 years.
When the family moved back to Utah in 1964, she spent many years working in retail. Many of you will remember her beautiful smile and her kind service at JCP, Woolworths, Blocks, Ceenie’s, Roskelley’s, and Walmart. She was also a Mary Kay representative for 25 years, just retiring from that last year.
The two most important things in life to Elaine is her family and her testimony of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. She died firm in the faith, knowing that she is on the path to Exaltation.
Elaine was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, and a great granddaughter.
We, as her family, love her with a perfect love. We are so grateful for the love she gave us; the strength she taught us; and the faith she nurtured in us. We are so grateful for the tender times of caring for her shortly before she left us – it was her last gift to us.
We will miss her terribly, but rejoice that she is finally free from pain and a body that, in the past several years, has tested her endurance – but endure she did!
We thank the staff at Sunshine Terrace for their tender care, especially during the last weeks of her life. We offer a special thanks to mom’s Sunshine Terrace “rock stars” and nightly travelling companions, Bob and Kelsey. Thank you for loving her so much.
Also, we want to thank Sunshine Terrace Hospice for their care and counseling.
“Mom – save a place in the choir for us when we come. We are looking forward to the times we will hold you in our arms again.”
Way to go Mom! We love you!
