Elayne Sorensen

Elayne Leavitt Sorensen, 79, of Paradise Utah beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and Friend To All, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 12, 2023.

Elayne was born August 4, 1943 in Tonopah, Nevada, raised by Harold and Lorean Lewis Doty. Growing up in Overton Nevada she enjoyed horseback riding, watersports, and time with cousins and friends.
She graduated from Overton High School and Dixie College then continued at Utah State University where she received a bachelors degree in Home Economics.

She met and fell in love with Gary Sorensen while attending Utah State. The two were married on May 28, 1966 in the St. George Temple.

Throughout her extraordinary life, she demonstrated LOVE, compassion, service, and had an enduring and unforgettable impact on all who knew her. She left an undeniable impression on the hearts and minds of all she met.

Elayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her lifetime including multiple foreign missions.

Elayne loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many parts of the world. She is survived by her sweetheart of 57 years Gary and six children: Sheila Kartchner (Troy), Shawn Sorensen, Shane Sorensen, Steven Sorensen (Teri), Shalyse Larsen (Dan), and Shad Sorensen (KayDee).

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday July 17, 2023 at the Paradise 3rd Ward building 9060 South 200 West Paradise, Utah.

All may visit family on Sunday, July 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah and on Monday, July 17 from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church building in Paradise, Utah prior to funeral services.

Her internment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
