Eldon Donohoo

Eldon Lamar Donohoo, 78, passed away at Sunshine Terrace on Sunday, July 14th, 2019. Eldon will be laid to rest on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the Logan City Cemetery. Graveside Service at 10:00 AM

Eldon was born on May14, 1941 in North Logan, Utah to Carbon Dewey Donohoo and Mary Bullock.

Because of two tragic accidents to both eyes at a very young age, Eldon was blind in one eye and had only partial vision in the other eye. Life was not easy for Eldon. His mother died when he was four years old.

When he was school age the State of Utah forced his father to send Eldon to the blind school in Ogden. The family had no car so only got to visit once a month or so with him. If someone was coming to Logan, they would bring Eldon up for a visit. Once in a while, someone would drive them to Ogden to see him. He got to spend summers at home.

Life at the school was hard. He was mistreated and abused there. He missed out on being part of the family to help shape and mold his life.

Because of his disability, he was unable to work much. He lived in the Logan Hotel and worked at Deseret Industries during the day up until he had a stroke several years ago. The stroke left him paralyzed on the left side and unable to care for himself.

He lived at Logan Nursing Home for a couple of years and then was transferred to Sunshine Terrace where he lived out the remainder of his life.

He was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was not a perfect man and made several bad choices in his life. It is comforting to know that he no longer has to live in a twisted, sightless body and that God is a forgiving God that loves all of his children.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers, Ross (Margaret) and David (Dolores); sisters, Ella Mae Julson (Ralph), and Barbara Walker (George). He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Max Skabelund of Mesa AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
