Eldon Hill Hall
Eldon Hill Hall, loving Husband, Father, Grand Father and Great Grandfather passed this mortal existence and returned to his Father in Heaven on Monday, 26 March 2007, in the Veterans Hospital Nursing Home, in Salt Lake City.
Eldon was born 2 December, 1920, in Wellsville, Utah, to James Owen and Effie Hall, one of seven sons.
He was raised on a farm in Wellsville where they lived in town during the winter and moved to a two room house on the family farm outside of Wellsville during the growing season. He attended grade school at the Floradel Grade School and High school at
South Cache High in Hyrum, Utah. He married Florence Williams in the Logan LDS Temple on 9 October, 1942. He hauled milk and sugar beets until he was drafted into the United States Army on 23 November, 1942. Eldon served with the Thirteenth “Black Cat” Armored Division under Patton’s Third Army in the European Theater, during the “War to End all Wars”, WWII, as part of the “GREATEST GENERATION”. Following the war Eldon joined the ranks of American Telephone & Telegraph Company, where he was employed as a Cable Repairmen until his retirement in 1983. Eldon and Florence resided in Salt Lake City, Wellsville, and finally settled in River Heights in 1951. Eldon served in many voluntary positions, his favorite being that of the River Heights Lions Club, where he served for about fifty years. He was elected to the River Heights City Council in 1968 thru 1972. He was an avid outdoorsman truly loving hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and waterskiing. He went hunting well into his 80’s. Eldon was a faithful member of the LDS Church, in which he served many callings to include working in the Logan LDS Temple and Ward Welfare Farm Director from 1969 to1984. Eldon loved working with his hands, building and repairing almost anything, and loved gardening, a BIG GARDEN. The family will always remember Eldon as a loving and patient man who carried life’s burdens without complaint.
Eldon is survived by his wife Florence of 64 years, two brothers, Blaine Hall, Orem, Ut and Duane Hall, Wellsville, Ut. Three Children; Gordon Hall (Sharen), Bountiful, Ut, Katherine Jacobson, North Logan, Debbie (Brent) Munk, Amalga, Ut. Eight grandchildren, and thirteen and 8/9th’s great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Owen, Grant, LaVerl and Darl.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 30 March, 2007, 12:00 PM in the River Heights Stake Center, 800 South 600 East, River Heights. The viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, on Thursday evening, 29 March, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at the River Heights Stake Center, 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday prior to the service.
