Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his home, Eldon Lynn Parker Cooper returned home to his Father in Heaven, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Lynn grew up in Wellsville, Utah; he was the oldest son of three children born to Eldon Green and Arlene Parker Cooper. For forty-one years, Lynn worked for United States Government. During his career, Lynn made significant contributions to the Department of Defense and the Defense Contract Management Agency. The highlight of his career was receiving the Silver Snoopy award on August 15, 1990. He enjoyed the wonderful people he worked with and forged great friendships. In his short retirement; he never missed the job but missed the people very much. Lynn enjoyed working with his hands and could fix anything. He demonstrated an extraordinary work ethic in his employment, his home, family, and his public service.
Lynn served on the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol for 40 years. He served the City of Wellsville as a councilman for 26 years, and also served on the Wellsville City Planning and Zoning committee. He was also a member of the Wellsville City Fire Department for many years.
Lynn married Kristi Campbell on April 21, 1967. They had two children, Clinton Campbell Cooper and Ingrid Cooper Sorensen. They later divorced. On July 11, 1992, Lynn married his eternal companion, April Lee Hatch. They have one child, Kaden Briggs Cooper. Throughout his life Lynn enjoyed sports and the outdoors. When Lynn wasn't farming, skiing, or running chains at a football game, he was supporting his children in their own endeavors.
Above everything else, Lynn valued his family. Throughout his sixty-two years, he strived to build, strengthen and support those he loved in any way he could. Lynn’s happiest moments were spent on the farm with his dad and brother, skiing at Beaver Mountain, Wellsville City Council meetings, camping, boating, and other activities and vacations with his family.
Lynn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived, and missed, by his wife, April Hatch Cooper; sons, Clinton (Debbie) Cooper of Newton, Utah, Kaden Briggs Cooper of Wellsville, Utah, and a daughter, Ingrid (Ben) Sorensen of Paradise, Utah; a grandson, Chance Cooper of Paradise, Utah; parents, Eldon and Arlene Cooper of Wellsville, Utah; a brother, Clair Cooper of Wellsville, Utah; a sister, Noralee Hatch of College Station, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 23rd , 2009 at the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center Street in Wellsville. A public viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22nd at Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan, Utah and from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 23rd , at the Wellsville Stake Center. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kim Jones, nurses, and other staff members at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their professionalism and genuine love and concern. Thank you Natalie Hancock and other members of the Rocky Mountain Home Health Care team for all you did for Lynn and our family. We would also like to thank the Wellsville 7th Ward Relief Society.
