LOGAN, UTAH: Eldon Mont Bradfield, 95 years of age, of Logan, Utah passed away at home Saturday, September 6, 2008.
He was born December 24, 1912 in Sigurd, Utah to Franklin D. Bradfield and Ethel Augusta Strange. He married Sarah Darley of Wellsville, Utah, October 11, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. He attended schools in the Sigurd/Richfield area where he graduated from Richfield High School.
Growing up in a home that loved music he, his brothers and sisters would play various instruments and sing together for entertainment. His children and grandchildren loved to hear him sing, play the mandolin and harmonica. As a young man he was employed by farmers to thin their beets. He worked in the lumber mills at Hilt and Scotia, California.
Near the end of WWII he and Sarah with their son Kent moved back to Utah settling in Wellsville where he farmed until a back injury caused him to change employment. He then worked for the security department at Utah State University where he worked until he retired. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding various positions including working in the security program at the Logan LDS Temple.
Eldon is survived by his wife Sarah, three son’s Eldon Kent and wife Lorraine of Hillsboro, Oregon, Norris Lyle and wife Patsy of Logan, Utah and Dale and wife Pam Bradfield of Redwood City, California; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, one brother Ralph of Ogden, Utah and Beth of Logan, Utah. Three brother’s Norris, Merwin, Ferris and one sister, Velma preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Logan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at
