Elizabeth (Betty) Lucille Taylor, 84 of Logan, Utah died on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Logan Regional Hospital.
She was born in LaCrosse, Wisc., to Anna Elizabeth and Elmer Herbert Herold. Betty grew up on a dairy farm with her two older brothers (Kenneth and Herbert, both deceased) and one younger sister (Carol McConnell, Carson City, Nev).
A large part of Betty's life was focused on education. Her own education led from teaching in a one room schoolhouse to a Master's degree in Education from Boise State College. She worked as a special education resource teacher in Smithfield, UT retiring in 1989.
Betty graciously gave much of her time and energy to her community, serving as a member of the First Presbyterian Church, docent at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, and as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and PEO. She was awarded the Women Over 65 Award from the USU Women's Center in 2004.
While touring with her students at a soil conservation experiment station outside LaCrosse in 1952, Betty met Robert (Bob) Taylor. They married in 1953 and built their dream home in rural Wisconsin overlooking Lake Neshonic. Their children arrived in the next few years - daughter Tamara Pluth (Steve Thompson) and son Paul (Julie), and they built a beautiful life together.
Betty was an avid gardener and her raspberry/currant jelly was most prized by her friends and family. She loved to travel, whether it was across the US with Bob, camping with Paul, or to France with Tamara.
With all the places she's been, Betty's favorite spot was right in her own backyard at Tony Grove Lake in Logan Canyon. Betty also loved spending time in Lacey, WA with here two grandchildren, Samuel and Joseph Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Logan Utah at the corner of 200 West and Center Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to First Presbyterian Church (178 W. Center, Logan, UT 84321). Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting
