Elsie C Clarke

On June 8, 2016, our beloved mother and best friend, Elsie C. Clarke passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children. Elsie was born on November 4, 1929 to Winston Boykin Jones, Jr. and wife Elsie “Bonnie” Jones in Logan, Utah. Her family moved to Washington D.C. where Elsie graduated from McKinley High School in 1947. Elsie enjoyed working as a secretary for Maryland University. Elsie was a phenomenal typist and often helped young students prepare term papers and disserations. She also worked in the financial departments of Sears and Kmart in Logan, Utah. Elsie truly loved her years of employment at Salt Lake Community College where she made many lifelong friends. In 1948, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Walter Clarke. They were married 39 years, until Joseph’s passing in 1987. Elsie and Joseph raised five wonderful children. Elsie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, her daughters Denice and Janice. She is survived by her daughter Connie (Sam) Fittry, her son Joseph (Deborah) Clarke, and son John Clarke. Elsie is also survived by one sister, Susan Jones, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and her loyal companion cat, Buddy. Elsie was kind, compassionate and fun to be with. If you knew her-you loved her. We love you Mom. We will miss you forever. Funeral services will be held at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E 1800 N, North Logan, on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM . A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Logan Cemetery.
