Our angel mother, cherished wife, loving grandmother and great grandmother, compassionate friend, admired mother-in-law, and beloved sister, Emelie Daehler Waechtler, was reunited with loved ones on May 23, 2013.
Born in Steffisburg, Switzerland on December 14, 1937 to Friedrich Daehler and Louise Spieler. At the age of 4, Emelie was lovingly fostered into the home of Josef Zwahlen and Emma Michel, becoming Josy Zwahlen DeHoyos’s only sister. After her family joined the LDS church, they immigrated to the US in 1949 and were sealed as a family in March 1957 in the Logan Temple.
She was swept off her feet by her sweetheart, Fritz Albert Waechtler of Noessige, East Germany and they were sealed for time and eternity on December 19, 1958 in the Logan Temple. Together they taught their 5 sons and 3 daughters to be hard working, caring, and to serve others.
Emelie was passionate about cooking for large gatherings and had a deep love and respect for nature and God’s creations. She was dedicated to her work as a school cook, and was a caring grandmother, and obedient servant of the Lord. Despite her physical challenges, together with her husband, they served a mission for the LDS church at the Ogden Cannery for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Fritz, and children Josef (Phyllis) of Magna, UT, Kathy Goold (Chris) of Vancouver, WA, Susie Quartey (Victor) of Provo, UT, Fritz Jr (Lorri) of Carlton, OR, Stephan (Mary) of Georgetown, ID, Bobby (Christy) of North Logan, UT, Heidi Migliori (Anthony) of Gentry, AR, and Peter (Tifani) of Dayton, ID, and her sister Josephine De Hoyos (Benjamin) of Provo, UT. She left a legacy of 42 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who admire and love her.
Emelie was preceded in death by her parents Josef and Emma Zwahlen and Friedrich and Louise Daehler; her mother and father in law, Johannes and Elisabeth Waechtler, and her stillborn child.
A viewing in her honor will be held on Monday, May 27 from 6 – 8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan Utah. Another viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 28 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am, followed by her funeral at 12:00 pm at the Hyrum North Stake Center (Hyrum 7th Ward) at 245 North Apple Drive, Hyrum, Utah.
