Emerson Eames

February 23, 1935 — June 4, 2015

Edward Emerson Eames, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday June 4, 2015. He was born February 23, 1935, the oldest son of Edward and June Eames. He grew up in Cache Valley and as a boy he learned the value of hard work by helping on the family farm. He enjoyed the time he spent working with his parents. He attended Logan High School where he excelled in athletics. He loved football and basketball and treasured the friendships that were made there. He earned all state recognition for basketball and all region in football.
He married Joan Vance on November 24, 1954. They were blessed with three children. They were later divorced.
As a young man, Em drove a truck for a living. This was an asset to him in the positions he held at Thiokol Corporation as a transportation foreman and later a manufacturing project engineer.
Em enjoyed the outdoors - fishing, hunting, playing golf and riding his beloved horses. He looked forward to hunting season in the fall where he spent time in the mountains with cherished friends and family. Our family has fond memories of listening to Dad recount these hunting adventures.
For many years, he was a member of the Logan Golf and Country club, where in 1980 he served as the president of the board of directors. He worked with the Cooperative Wildlife Management of Utah, serving as their president for six years. Em was an amazing skier and loved his time on the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol.
Emerson met his sweetheart Sandy, while working together at Thiokol. They were married March 1, 1996. Later, they were so happy to be sealed in the Logan Temple on March 15, 2014. In the summertime, they loved to go to Yellowstone with their trailer and their dog Oliver.
Emerson is survived by his wife Sandy, his children, Randy (Tamara) Eames, Debbie (Bret) Liechty, Shelly (Mitch) Hedin and Sandy’s boys, Michael and Troy Tuft, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, a sister Loretta (Sherm) Mullins and a brother Richard (Sharell) Eames.
Emerson had wonderful care, through many illnesses, from healthcare professionals here and in Salt Lake. Our family would like to thank them for their tender care.
