Emily Zamrzla Bachman passed away May 30, 2009 in Providence, Utah just 12 days following her 99th birthday from causes incident to age.
She was born on May 18, 1910 near Clay, Wisconsin to John and Agnes Jankovska Zamrzla. Emily was the 8th of 9 children. She grew up on the family farm, and attended school through the 8th grade where she was taught by her older sister. As a teenager, she went to work in Chicago.
She married Joe Bachman on October 15, 1932. They had two sons. Emily and Joe lived on small dairy farms near Columbia and later Black River Falls, Wisconsin. They also raised and sold strawberries. When their sons left for college, they bought some land on the shore of Lake Sissabagama in Wisconsin and built several cottages to create the resort, "Bachman's Musky Point". They worked at the lake in the summer and lived in Ft Myers, FI in the winter.
When she was 92 she moved to Providence, Utah to be nearer her family, where she lived independently until shortly before her death.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and two granddaughters. She is survived by her two sons, Ken (Donna) of Eau Claire, WI, and Ron (Nelia) of Providence, UT, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Emily enjoyed the outdoors, and was an adept cook, seamstress and gardener. She loved dancing with Joe and playing cards with friends. She always had a profusion of flowers both inside and out wherever she lived. Emily was an intelligent, independent woman, who was a constant source of inspiration to her family and friends. Her smile and humor will be dearly missed.
