Emma Reynolds Harris of Young Ward, age 94, died on May 27, 2012, surrounded by loving
family members. She was born Nov. 25, 1917, to Joseph William and Theresa (Christiansen)
Reynolds, the third of eleven children. Three of her siblings survive her: Edna, Joseph and Carl. Thomas, Lois, Rae, Rea, Edward, Helen, and Joyce preceded her in death.
She was raised in Wellsville, Utah, and graduated from South Cache High School. She valued
education, and all of her children are college graduates. She married Frank E. Harris on Dec. 10, 1937. They spent most of their married life on their farm in Young Ward. She was a hard worker, and an excellent cook. She especially loved gardening and working outside. Her yard was always beautiful. Quilting, crocheting and reading were also hobbies. She was humorous, feisty, optimistic, and outgoing. She was dedicated to her family, and they loved being around her.
Emma served in many callings in the LDS Church. She and Frank served in the Logan LDS
Temple for 12 years, and also in the South Carolina Mission.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1996. She is survived by seven living
children: Alma (Gayle) Harris, North Ogden, UT; Carol (Stanley) Packer, Preston, ID; Dennis
(Kay) Harris, Redondo Beach, CA; Lynn (Jean) Harris, Young Ward, UT; Leisa (Kyle,
deceased) Mattson, Pleasant View, UT; Sarah (Garth) Timmins, Young Ward, UT; Jodie (Jan)
Harris, Ogden, UT. A daughter, Laurie, died shortly after birth. Emma is also survived by 32
grandchildren (being preceded in death by three), and 63 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Country Lane assisted living center for their
love and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Mendon Stake Center, 476 South 100 East, Mendon, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday evening at the Allen-Hall
Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan, from 6-8 p.m., and again at the Mendon Stake Center on
Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
