Emma Jeannette Gines McAffee Perkes, 74, passed away Tuesday morning, February 2, 2010, of heart complications at Dixie Regional Hospital in St. George , Utah .
Jeannette was born January 11, 1936 in Woodland, Utah, to Clifton and Francis Ellen Gines.
She was raised and educated in Woodland, Utah. She married Thomas Brent McAffee in 1953 and they welcomed two children, Kevin and Pamela to their family. Brent later passed away in 1957. In 1960 she married Doral Dee Perkes who was raising his three children, Peggy, Eva, and Kevin Ray. Together they welcomed two more children, David and Brett to their family.
She was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many callings including Primary President and Young Women president. She served an LDS mission with her husband in St. Louis Missouri.
Her primary focus in life was her family and being a homemaker.
She received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Utah State University. She worked for Utah State University in the controllers office and as secretary for Mountain Farms Inc.
She enjoyed golfing, dancing, traveling, scrap booking and especially loved being with her family. She was a hard worker and had a kind and generous personality.
She is survived by her husband, Doral Dee Perkes, sons, Kevin McAffee (Heidi), David Perkes (Cindy), Brett Perkes (Lana), daughters, Peggy Balls (LeRoy), Eva Carpenter (Sid), and Pamela Mitton, 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mona Leavitt, June Jones, Blaine Gines, Jimmy Gines, and Kenneth White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, son Kevin Ray Perkes, and two brothers, Max and Lee Gines.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 8, 2010 in the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 1260 N 1600 E, Logan, Utah under the direction of Bishop Scott Hlavaty. A viewing will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St. Logan , Utah , and prior to services at the church on Monday February 8, 2010 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
