Erma “Granny” Bradley, 95, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.
Erma was born in Smithfield to Austin and Myrtle Pitcher on Sept. 24, 1910, where she grew up and received her education and attended North Cache. She met and married Leon Bradley and moved to Hyrum, where they made their home together and had a wonderful daughter, Sheron. Leon passed away on June 21, 1963, and Erma has resided in the home since, a home she dearly loved.
Erma worked at “Dewey’s,” a hometown café in Hyrum for 21 years, and thoroughly enjoyed her customers. She loved to go home and tell her family all the stories. She then went on to work for Hyrum City under five different mayors, always keeping Fran Bair on her toes. She enjoyed working out in her yard (she had an excellent green thumb) and staying very busy with Senior Citizens and her friends until just the last few years. She held several positions in the Relief Society and Primary and loved little children. Erma especially loved Glenna Baxter, Isabel Petersen and Hazel Taggart. Thanks to them for their continued friendship. Many thanks to Claudelle Gittins for doing her hair for the last 35 years. She has always been a class act and never went anywhere until she was dressed to the nines and had her make up on. She took great pride in the fact that she was the oldest person in Hyrum!
The family would like to particularly convey their gratitude to the Baxter family (five adopted boys) for their continued visits and love for so many years.
She leaves behind a daughter, Sheron (Reed), whom she dearly loved. The light of her life was her two grandsons, Brad (Suzy) and Shawn (Chris). Erma lived right next door to them, and they loved to go to “Granny’s” to eat good food and watch her tv. They loved to tease her. Erma also had two beautiful great-granddaughters, Tawni and Nicole who were the apple of her eye. She adored their big hugs. We will all miss her giggle, the twinkle in her eyes, and the stories she loved to tell. We love you Granny!
The family wishes to especially thank Hospice and particularly Soja, Diane and Kevin for all their love and help with Erma’s care.
Funeral services will be held at the Hyrum Stake Center (600 South 200 East) at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 18, 2006. There will be a viewing prior to the services between 10:00am and 11:45 am. Internment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by going to
