PARADISE, UTAH: Eugenia (Gene) Dalton Lee, 85 of Paradise Utah died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Terrace Grove Assisted Living of causes incident to age.
Gene was born May 9, 1923 in Logan, Utah the oldest daughter of Hiram Euen and Harriet McAlister Dalton. Her siblings are John M. and Barbara Dalton of Logan and Edward and Barbara (deceased) Vandivere of Bountiful. She and her siblings spent summers in Yellowstone Park, while her dad worked on the roads in the Park; this began her lifelong love of the Teton Mountains. She received her early education in Denver and came to Logan to Utah State University where she was introduced to Gurney Worth Lee. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on March 29, 1946. They moved to Paradise where they worked together on the family farm. Gurney died September 14, 1965.
Gene continued farming with their six children. Two sons still run the family dairy farm.
Gene was an active member of the L.D.S. Church, serving in many church callings, including stake and ward Relief Society presidents, Stake Young Women president, Primary president and teacher, librarian, and visiting teacher. One that she especially enjoyed was being a temple officiator at the Logan LDS Temple where lasting friendships were made. She was also an active member of the Sagwich Camp of DUP.
Rounding out her life, she was a cat lover, farmer, tractor driver, raccoon stalker, bird watcher, picnic lover, seamstress, hostess of "cookie time," lover of expensive shoes and new cars, great cribbage player, neighbor, friend,
reader of Louis L' Amour (and other books), NASCAR fan, diet Coke drinker, club cracker hoarder, and maker of calico beans. She was hard working and dedicated to her family.
She was GiGi to: Jon and Norene Beutler (deceased) Lee, Marty and Denver Hospodarsky, Barbara Bagley, Richard and Kristy Niederhauser Lee, Judy and Sam Weston, Rob and Angie Christiansen Lee, Chris and Jessica Riggs, and 29 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank her other "family" at Terrace Grove. She knew each of you by name and we appreciate all you did for her-your friendship, love, and great care.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, April 6, 2009 in the Paradise 2nd Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and prior to the services from 10:30 to 11 :30 a.m. at the church on Monday.
