Eva Kathryn Parkinson Smith

June 8, 1944 — August 29, 2018

Eva Kathryn Parkinson Smith, 74, passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones at her home in Richmond on August 29, 2018 from a short bought with cancer.
Kathy was born on June 8, 1944 in Logan Utah to Harry and Eva Parkinson of Wellsville, Utah. She was the sixth child of ten, and had a very close relationship with her grandmothers. She loved growing up in Wellsville surrounded by her family and friends. She Graduated from South Cache High School in 1962, where she ran track, was Harvest Ball Queen, and FFA Sweetheart. She also enjoyed being a part of the Wellsville Founder’s Day royalty with two of her good friends.
Kathy married Roger H. Smith on August 30, 1963 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated 55 Years of Marriage with their family on August 25, 2018 before her passing. She spent her entire married life living in Richmond. Kathy was a homemaker for many years, then after her kids were all in school, she worked as the Kitchen Manager at Park Elementary in Richmond for 23 years, then retired. Kathy was an excellent cook and knew how to put on the best feasts at Thanksgiving and Christmas that her family always looked forward to.
She was very active in the LDS Church throughout her life, where she loved serving in her many callings and the people she served with. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved her Savior.
Kathy loved to attend her grandkids’ activities and cheer them on. Kathy had a very special bond with each of her grandkids and made all of them feel special in their own way. Kathy loved to golf. She loved the many friends she made playing golf at Birch Creek and Logan River. Throughout many years of golf, she served as President and Secretary on the Golf Board. Her golf family has been so gracious to her during this difficult time and has been very supportive. She golfed with her friends up until she was diagnosed with cancer in July and golfed one last time with her daughter and granddaughter – three generations of golfers.
She is preceded in death by her son Jared K. Smith, brother John Parkinson, and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Roger H. Smith and four children; Jason R. Smith of Levan, Shelly K. Schiess of Richmond, Justin D. Smith (Amber) of Richmond, Cindy Allen Smith (Jared, deceased) of Richmond, Shawn P. Smith (Teresa) of Wellsville, and her 13 grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to family, friends, neighbors, and the nurses from Emcompass Home and Health Hospice (Jane and Rachael) for their concern, compassion and prayers.
