LOGAN, UTAH: Evan F. Chugg, 90, our dad, grandfather, and friend passed from this life on the morning of March 7th 2006 to be reunited with his beloved wife of 66 years, Margaret.
Evan was born April 1, 1915, in Providence, a son of Willard H, and Josephine Rose Chugg.
He married his High School sweet heart Margaret Walters Allen, on August 21, 1934.
She was the daughter of William J. and Margaret Walters Allen. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on June 13, 1968.
Evan worked as a watchmaker and jeweler in the Salt Lake and Ogden areas for 15 years and as a master barber in Logan and Smithfield. He was remembered as the best barber in the little shop right next to the original Hall Mortuary.
Until his retirement in 1972 he was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a calibration specialist in the standards lab, were he received many awards for his outstanding work.
Evan was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was an accomplished mechanic and our jack-of-all-trades, and could fix anything from automobiles to toys.
Dad had a keen sense of humor and liked to entertain us all with stories about his many adventures and life experiences.
Evan was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister Fern, one brother Malcolm, and a granddaughter Tara.
He is survived by four daughters and one son. Marilyn (Richard) Homer of Layton, Maxine Curtis of Pleasant view, Richelle (David) Amussen of Hyrum, Denise (John) Amussen of Hyrum, Alan (Polly) Chugg of Logan, and 16 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Evan will also be missed by many friends and loved ones.
A special and heart-felt thank you to Alpine Homecare. To Dennis Wildman, Brandon, Dave, and Chad. And to our hospice angels Kim, Natalie, Sue, Tammy, Chelsie, Pat and Marilyn.
