Evelyn L. Selley
Evelyn L. Selley passed away suddenly on Oct 1, 2010 at the age of 79.
She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Ethel OK, the daughter of Thomas M. and Genevie Rose Cunningham. She married Willie L. Copeland Jr. on July 22, 1950 in Lordsburg, NM. He died Aug 14, 1977. She later married Junior L. Selley on Nov. 20, 1981 in Nibley, UT. He died Nov. 9, 1996.
From the depression through the World War II years, Evelyn grew up working the fields beside her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her formal education was limited to only 10 years but she had a wealth of knowledge, skills and compassion that she passed on. She knew how to work hard and didn’t mind doing so. As her own children grew up and left she took on providing child care to others. She worked previous jobs in Sewing and Cheese production plants until her health prevented. Later she worked caring for seniors in the Mendon and Sunshine Terrace Nursing Homes.
Evelyn was a member of the LDS Church and enjoyed her participation with the Relief Society and the girls she quilted with at the senior center. A loving matriarch, she was always interested in the needs of her children and grandchildren, reaching out a helping hand when she could.
“We love you Mom and we’ll miss you”.
Survived by her sons, Charles L. (Sharon) Copeland, of Logan, John D. (Terry) Copeland of Smithfield, Larry E. (Robin) Copeland of Smithfield, Darrel R. Copeland of Ogden, her daughter Billie J.
