Farn Franklin Perkins

October 8, 1921 — November 23, 2012

LEWISTON, UTAH: Our dear father Farn Franklin Perkins, 91, passed away on the 23 Nov 2012 in Logan, UT of age related health conditions. He was born to Thomas Nathanial and Mary Elizabeth Hinck Perkins the 8th of Oct., 1921. He was the third child of eleven children. He graduated from Star Valley High School after having taken time off from school to help his dad build the family home. He served his country in WWII as a Military Policeman in Northern Africa and Italy. He married Mary Bateman 22 Sep 1944 in the Logan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple. Farn and Mary lived in Thayne, WY for a number of years, where they were blessed with six children, five girls and one boy. He ran a ranch in Thayne where they harvested the hay the old fashioned way with buck rakes and derricks. Dad had a love for animals and had many different kinds on his ranch. He particularly loved his pinto horse. The family moved to Lewiston, UT in 1959 where they lived on a small farm. Here they found farming a little different than in Star Valley, but they progressed and their family grew. Here they also had several trials, for they lost a daughter in an automobile accident and a grandson in a motorcycle accident. While in Lewiston, dad served his community as a member of the American Legend and also as a member of the Lewiston Lions Club. He also served in his church in several different callings. He and mom also served on a mission to the Washington Seattle Mission. Dad and mother lived in Lewiston up until their health declined and then they went and lived with their children for two years. After which they moved into Beehive Assisted Living, where mom passed away. Dad lived there for a while and then moved to Terrace Grove and Sunshine Terrace, where he passed away.

He is survived by, a brother Andrew (Diane) Perkins, four sisters Clara (Dominic) Cannariato, Alice (Dean) Weeks, Leola West, and Edith (Miles) Hall. He is also survived by five children. Janet (Ned) Morrison, Marie (Bruce) McOmber, Diane (Charles) Spackman, and Larry (Mary Lou) Perkins, Judy (Roger) Carter and twenty-nine grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Bateman Perkins, a daughter, Darlene Perkins, a grandson, Nathan Perkins, three brothers Floyd, Eldon, & Dean, two sisters Neoma Mills and Eva Dabel, and parents Thomas N. & Mary Elizabeth H. Perkins.
