F. Edis Taggart
Fred Edis Taggart passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Logan, Utah surrounded by family on November 7, 2005.
He was born in Lewiston, Utah on October 2, 1910 to Frederick and Eulalia Ardella Leavitt Taggart he grew up on the farm in Lewiston, riding horseback and working with his father on the dairy. He attended North Cache High School and served a three year mission for the LDS Church to Australia. As he returned, he met the sister of another returning missionary from the Sugar House area of Salt Lake, Mary Lambert. They were married on December 5th 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary and Edis raised their family on a dairy farm in Lewiston. He enjoyed developing one of the finest registered Holstein herds in the area and was well known in the dairy industry. He was involved in the Utah Dairy Council, the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, the Holstein Friesian Association and other professional organizations. He was a community leader, being involved as an officer of the Hogan Ditch Company, the Lions Club and other civic organizations.
Edis was a lifelong devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings and was always faithful in his service. He was well known as an individual of total honesty and integrity who was always positive with others. He treated strangers as friends and none could stay a stranger long when he visited with them.
After retiring from the dairy, Edis managed the Richmond Stake Dairy Farm, spent much time gardening, working in his yard and caring for his beloved wife. He missed her so much these last few years and we know their reunion was wonderful.
