Fern Chase Kitchen

October 19, 1923 — October 18, 2006

Fern Chase Kitchen died peacefully in her daughter’s home, October 18, 2006, the day before her 83rd birthday.

She was born October 19, 1923 in Huston, Idaho to Claude Eugene Chase and Musa Robinson, the eighth out of nine children.

After graduation from Melba High School, Fern met Arlo Asay Kitchen, a soldier stationed in nearby Boise. They were married January 30, 1943. Two years later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. It was during their first few months of marriage that Fern joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a faithful member of the church thereafter, serving in a variety of callings, including Relief Society President, Primary teacher, and worker in the Logan Temple. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and grandmother to her 11 children, 55 grandchildren, and 56 great grandchildren. She gave individual attention and love to her many family members and friends. She had a great love for the teachings of Jesus Christ, for nature, music, sports, sewing, and homemaking. She was a highly esteemed employee for many companies over the years, most recently for S & S Sports. She will be remembered for her energy and hard work, her positive personality and easy-going nature, her humor, and her compassionate service.
