PARADISE, UTAH: Flora Maughan Obray, 91, passed away on the 26th of November, 2013, at her home in Paradise, Utah. She was born June 1, 1922, in Hyrum, Utah to parents Louis Parkinson Maughan and Florence Allen Maughan.
She attended South Cache High School and received an elementary teaching degree from Utah State in 1942. She taught school in Neola, Utah, for one year and then married Wayne Obray August 26, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She worked a short time at Hill Air Base before moving to Hyrum, Utah and then to Paradise.
She served in positions in the Primary and Young Women’s organizations in the LDS Church.
Surviving are two sons and four daughters: Dr. John Obray, Providence; Dr. Bruce Obray (Margaret), Paradise; Jayne Leaman (Tim), Paradise; Rosemarie Jorgensen (Randy), Paradise; Susan Moore (Kent), Bountiful; Julie Schiffman (Craig), Nibley; and 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Arlene Liechty. She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne, daughter Kathleen Obray, grandson Erik Jorgensen, two brothers Louis and Gerald Maughan, and two sisters Ramona Nielsen and LaRee Watkins.
Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Steve Short at the Paradise 1st Ward Chapel 155 East 9400 South, at 12 p.m., Saturday, November 30. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., and also Friday evening, November 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan. She left a legacy of love for her family. Each child, grandchild, and great grandchild had a special place in her heart.
