LOGAN, UTAH: Florence Gay Wangsgaard, 95, long time Logan resident, passed peacefully away into the loving arms of her creator while under the care of Sunshine Terrace. Born December 5, 1913 to Newton Adelbert Gay ( Ogden , UT ) and Florence Lillian Maude Chisholm ( London , England ) in Ogden , UT. Preceded in death by her Sister Ellen Griffin (Ogden), her loving husband of nearly sixty years, Dee Wangsgaard (Ogden) and both her parents as well as many other relatives including her Great Grandfather Lorin Farr (1st Mayor of Ogden.) She is survived by her sister Martha Stromberg ( Ogden ) and three children, Michael D. Wangsgaard DDS (Carolee Felt-Logan) Manhatten , Kansas , Patricia G. Bishop (Sidney Bishop-Garland, UT) Kennesaw GA. and John G Wangsgaard (Leslie Larsen-Richards) of Salt Lake City . In addition there are many Grand and Great Grand Children.
Florence graduated from Ogden High school then obtained a B.A. from Utah State Agricultural College in History. She taught at the secondary school level before marrying Dee . Shortly thereafter they relocated to Logan (1938). After raising her three children and suffering much trepidation she re-certified her teaching credentials to teach at Logan Junior High School . After several years she transferred to Utah State University where she worked in the Registrars office for many years. A life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her faith was unshakeable.
A viewing will be held Friday May 22nd at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan from 7-9 pm. Saturday there will be a viewing held at the Foothill 1st Ward 1350 East 1500 North, Logan from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Services will directly follow at 11:00 am. Internment will then occur at Logan City Cemetery (please enter the cemetery from the western most gate on 10th North. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any contribution be made to the Sunshine Terrace Foundation (non-profit). The Nurses and Staff of this wonderful facility are a tremendous asset to this community and work miracles always with too little. Our deepest appreciation extends to this entire organization.
