Florence Lamb Ashcroft

November 10, 1909 — January 30, 2011

Hyde Park, Utah: Florence Lamb Ashcroft, 101, died Sunday, January 30, at the Logan Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Florence was born November 10, 1909, in Hyde Park, Utah, a daughter of Suel Erastus and Phebe Thurston Lamb. She attended school in Hyde Park and at North Cache High School in Richmond.
She married Ernest Hawkes Ashcroft on November 8, 1929, in the Logan LDS Temple. The couple made their home in Hyde Park. They were the parents of four children: Gaylen, David, Carol, and Frank. After her husband’s death, she continued to live in her home in Hyde Park for many years. When her eyesight and hearing became so impaired that she could no longer live alone, she moved to River Heights to live with her son, Gaylen; and later moved back to Hyde Park to live with her son, Frank.
Florence held several positions in the LDS Church. She served as librarian, and as a teacher in Primary, YWMIA, Sunday School, and Relief Society and was a visiting teacher for many years. She was a member of the William Hyde Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and served as lesson leader for several years.
Florence is survived by her three sons and their wives: Gaylen (Elaine), David (Alys Ann), and Frank (Pat), and one son-in-law, Guy Larson. She has 15 living grandchildren, 45 living great-grandchildren and 45 living great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; her daughter, Carol Larson; and one great-grandson, Jonathan Gittins.
Florence was well known for her beautiful crochet work, especially for her doilies and her Barbie clothes. Her talent for making hot rolls and dipping chocolates was enjoyed by many.
A special thanks to Dana, Tammy, and Lisa from Hospice for their service to Florence during the last few months; and to the staff at the Logan Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their care during the past month.
