Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died November 9,2006 at the Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah of causes incident to age.
She was born October 17, 1910 in Clarkston, Utah, the daughter of Walter Lewis and Sarah Loosle Thompson. She was educated in Cache County Schools and graduated from North Cache High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Nathan Rulon Godfrey on May 11, 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple. They shared 62 happy years together. He died in November 1994.
Flo was the mother of nine children - seven sons and two daughters: Lyman (Katherine) North Logan; Udell (Deanna) Clarkston; Walter (Metta) West Point; John (Rosemary) Salt Lake City; Lonnie (Diane) Riverdale; Loretta (Bill) Robbins, Salt Lake City; Gail (DeeAnne) Clarkston; Betty Priscilla (deceased); and Glen (Ann) Clarkston.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many of the auxiliary organizations.
She was a member of the Martin Harris Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served as captain, vice captain and historian. She was secretary of the North Cache County DUP for three years. She belonged to the Clarkston Literary Club. She served as one of the local directors of the Cache Valley Dairy Wives.
Flo was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery and crocheting. When she was in her early seventies she began oil painting. Many of her pictures are in the homes of her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and prepared delicious meals for her family, the hay men and harvest men. She was known for her homemade bread, pies and fried chicken dinners.
She spent her life as a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a great example of kindness and Christ-like love to all of us.
She is survived by her children, 41 grandchildren, and 71 great grandchildren. She was peceded in death by her husband, daughter Betty Priscilla, her parents, four brothers (George, Wendell, Jess and Seymour Thompson), four sisters (Lois Thompson, Sarah Buttars, Hattie Archibald, and Annie Hubble) as well as three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20 at 1 pm in the Clarkston LDS Chapel in Clarkston, Utah with Bishop Courtney Ricks conducting. A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, November 19 at the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan, Utah from 6 to 8 pm, and at the church in Clarkston prior to services from 11 :30 am to 12:30 pm.. Burial will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff, residents and LDS Branch of Country Pines Retirement Center in Clinton, Utah where Flo resided for the past 12 years for their kind and loving care. Appreciation is also expressed to the Hospice workers who cared for her.
