Floyd A. Jarvis
Floyd A. Jarvis, age 92, passed away on January 2, 2007. He was born on July 8, 1914 in Scott, Arkansas. He went to school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and then spent three years in the Cast and Geodetic Survey Service as an instrument man.
He attended the Parks Business School and then went to work for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, first in the telegraph office and then in the transportation section where he was secretary to the train master; promoted to assistant train master and retired as train master.
He married Ella Elizabeth Mulvihill on April t, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. After their marriage the moved to Helper, Utah; Salt Lake City; Denver; Provo; Grand Junction and Logan. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2000.
Floyd and his brother, Jimmie purchased the Culligan Water Softener franchise on October 1, 1950.
He has served as a member of the Vestry, which is the governing body of the St. John’s Episcopal Church and as a layreader. He is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the El Kalah Shrine, Salt Lake City. He has been a part of the community not only through his business but through the following organizations, PTA, Scouting and the St. John’s Episcopal Church.
He is a member of the Logan Rotary Club and served as president in 1966. A member of the Logan Men’s Club, he was president in 1980. He was a three year director of the Cache Chamber of Commerce and worked with the Red Cross. He is a member of the B.P.O. Elks and the Logan Golf and Country Club as well as the Bluebird Coffee Club.
Floyd is an outdoors man and loves to fish and hunt deer, geese, and ducks.
He is survived by his two sons, Floyd, III, Ogden, Utah and Frank (wife Kuulei), Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Campbell Jarvis, Sonoma, California and James A. Jarvis, Logan, Utah. Preceded in death by one brother, Pitts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, 85 East 100 North, Logan, Utah with Rev. Ruth Eller officiating. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
