Fran Sessions

December 11, 1926 — June 24, 2015

Fran (Fanny Lou) Sessions, age 88 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, June 24 in Healdsburg, California.

She was born in Logan on December 11, 1926 to Bertha Doney Lowe and Charles Rudolph Johnson.  Born on her father’s birthday she became a delightful present for her dad and on her 62nd birthday she was blessed with the birth of her youngest grandson.

Fran grew-up in Logan and graduated in 1950 from the Utah Agricultural College (USU) with a degree in elementary education.  On June 5, one day after graduating, she married Alwyn Daines Sessions in the Logan Temple.  Fran taught first grade in Logan while her husband completed graduate school at the “AC.”

Fran and Alwyn D. raised their children in Arcata, California where Fran taught at the Humboldt State University Child Development Lab, Fieldbrook Elementary and Peninsula Union Schools.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for many years in the Arcata Ward and later in the Windsor, California Ward.

Fran enjoyed motherhood and homemaking - she was a wonderful cook.  She especially enjoyed children and animals, Halloween and April Fools pranks and playing tennis with her doubles partner “A.D.”  Fran often played the piano for her children and grandchildren and taught her daughters to sew and enjoy crafts and sports.   Fran’s son Mark stepped in, to nurture and care for his mother in recent years.  Mark returned the example of love and devoted service set by Fran so many years ago.

Fran’s eternal sweetheart, Alwyn D., courageous brother Charles, precious sisters Ruth and Ann, and oldest brother Alwyn preceded her in death.  She is survived by her three children and their spouses:  Linda and Paul Tramontano, Nancy and Bill Rohde, and Mark and Anita Sessions.  Fran has six grandchildren:  Jill Sessions and Willie, Chris, Mike, Dave (Adrienne) Rohde and Liz (Zac) Bleacher.  Recently, she was blessed with two great-grandsons: Campbell Rohde and John Bleacher.  Those who call her Aunt Fran:  Don, Maryann, Jeanie, Judy, Jack, Bob, Mike, Dennis, Cathy, Charles, Christy, Rodney, Richard, Ann, Karl and their families were always in Fran’s heart and thoughts.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Logan City Cemetery on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 am.  Suit jackets are not expected.   In lieu of flowers please consider sharing your memories and feelings at www.allenmortuaries.net .
