Francis I. Lewis

July 6, 1940 — July 6, 2011

LOGAN - Francis Ivan Lewis 71, after a short illness passed away at his home in Logan on his birthday July 6, 2011. Ivan was born July 6th, 1940 in Ogden Utah to Edward Mansel Lewis and Mamie Garner Lewis. He spent 58 years of his life in Ogden and for the remaining years he resided in Cache Valley. As much as he loved his hometown of Ogden, he came to love the valley as much.
He married Karen Lynnette Hugie Seamons on October 23, 1998 in Brigham Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on December 9, 2000.
Ivan graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1958 and attended Weber State University for four years. At both schools, he was very active in Football-a sport that he loved all the days of his life.
In 1960, he was called to serve as a Missionary in the Western Canadian Mission. There he served an honorable mission. While on his mission, he served in many leadership positions including Supervising Elder and Mission President’s Representative.
In his life time, he worked for his father’s company Edward Lewis & Sons Honey Co. He worked at Marquardt, General Electric and Fieldcrest Corp. For a short time, he was owner of Fieldcrest Sales.
In his lifetime, he was very active in the LDS church and he loved the Gospel. He served as Senior Seventies President, as Stake Mission Leader and on the High Council. He loved the Boy Scout program and he received his Eagle in 1954. Above all things, he loved the missionary program most; and greatly contributed in bringing many souls into the gospel. He was an avid missionary and encouraged everyone to invite non-members into their homes for Missionary discussions.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed such activities as hunting, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He loved to travel especially to historical places, and he loved doing this with his family. He took great pride in his ancestory. He was the Great Great Grandson of Cochise. He, also, had great pride for his name being named after the Francis Lewis who signed the Declaration of Independence. The name of Francis has been passed down through many generations.
Ivan was preceded in death by both his parents-Edward M. Lewis and Mamie G. Lewis.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Karen and 4 sons and 1 daughter from a previous marriage. They are Lane I Lewis, Lance F. (Lisa) Lewis, LanaLee Holley and Landon A. (Chrisanne) Lewis. Step Children are Krista (Neil) Brodrero, Laurie (Brian) Johnson, Nichole Everhart, Richard (Michelle) Seamons, Tyler (Jodi) Seamons, Heather (Steve) Erickson and Darren (J’eanette) Seamons. He has 11 Grandchildren and 23 Step Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11th at 12:00 noon at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan.
