Frank “Bud” Norris, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend died September 8, 2008 at Sunshine Terrace from cancer.
He was born on April 16, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jacob Norris and Lucy Annie Smith. He and his twin sister were the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in Randolph, Utah, where he learned the ranching business. He attended Rich County Schools and graduated from South Rich High School in 1941. Following high school, he attended both Utah State University and Weber State College, eventually becoming a journeyman electrician. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, helping with the reconstruction of Germany after World War II. On December 16, 1953 he married Venna Heap in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Logan where they raised 4 children.
Bud worked as an electrician for Utah State University, B&M Electric, Winward Electric, Logan Electric and Cache Valley Electric. His work often required him to be out of state. It was hard for him to be away from his family, but he did what was needed to provide for them.
He was a member of the LDS church who exemplified daily the teachings of the Gospel through service to those in need. As an electrician, he was known for his honesty, integrity and hard work. In his neighborhood he was known for his generosity and helpfulness to others. He never had to be asked; he always knew what others were in need of and gladly gave it. As a father and grandfather he exemplified love. He worked hard and sacrificed much to provide his children with opportunities and experiences to help them become successful adults. His family came first.
Bud is survived by his children, Cindy and Brent Erickson of Angier, North Carolina; Craig and Pam Norris of Logan, Utah; Lori and Brent Mecham of Kaysville, Utah; Kari Lyn and Todd Johnson of Hyde Park, Utah; 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin sister, Phyllis Piggott (David) of Bountiful, Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Venna, his parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
