Frank Gunnell Poppleton

April 2, 1918 — May 13, 2008

Frank G. Poppleton passed away on May 13, 2008 from causes incident to age. Frank was born April 2, 1918 in Strevell, Idaho to John and Mary Poppleton. He married Vida Wadman on August 6, 1938. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 23, 1944. He was blessed with 2 sons, 12 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He lived in Los Angeles, California from 1944 to 1979. He was employed by the Los Angeles Transit Authority for 35 years.

Frank served in the Navy during world War II where he received the Purple Heart. He was a life long deer hunter and loved the outdoors. He was a Scout Master in Los Angeles for several years and enjoyed teaching the boys to appreciate the beauties of nature. He loved being physically fit and exercised almost everyday of his adult life. He was also an accomplished boxer and bowler. He and his wife served for 21 years in the Logan Temple.

He is survived by his sons Max (Florence) and Merlyn (Judith); grandchildren and great-grand children and his brother Bill Poppleton. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother; three sisters; and his granddaughter Julie.

The family would like to express special thanks to Emeritus Estates Assisted Living for their care and concern during his final days.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 17, 2008 in the Wellsville 3rd Ward Chapel, 700 S. 100 W. in Wellsville. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center in Logan, and prior to services at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at the Wellsville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net .
