LOGAN, UTAH: Frank Willmore Haws, 84, passed away of acute myeloid leukemia Tuesday July 15th, 2008 at home surrounded by his wife and children.
Frank was born June 10, 1924 in Logan, Utah to Wesley Walters Haws and Laura Elizabeth Willmore. He was reared and educated in the Logan City Schools, and graduated from Utah State University in Civil Engineering, then got a Master's degree in Water Engineering. He spent the bulk of his professional career as a Senior Research Engineer at Utah State University's Water Research Laboratory. He also had a private practice as a civil engineer and hydrologist.
Frank has a long history of faithful service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a mission in the Eastern States where he particularly enjoyed working at the Hill Cumorah Pageant. He has served as ward and stake young men's president, bishop's counselor several times, as a teacher in many organizations, stake and ward family history specialis~ and as a high priests group leader. He has served as a high counselor in the two stakes in which he has lived and was currently serving as a dedicated high councilman in the Logan Central Stake. His home teaching families say he was the best home teacher ever. He always served with all his heart and was a man of great integrity.
Over the years, Frank has enjoyed several hobbies and talents. Music and singing was one of his loves. He was a member of the Imperial Glee Club for many years. He also performed solos, duets and loved being a member of a barber shop quartet. He also loved crossword puzzles, family history, and his computers. He could invent, design, and build anything and actually designed and built their first house.
He married Gayle Jacobsen in the Logan Temple and they were blessed to enjoy 58 fun, love filled years. They have 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. His family knows him as the greatest, smartest, and nicest man in town.
He is survived by his wife Gayle, his children MyrLynn Moulton (Dale) of Fruit Heights, Ut, Jay Haws (Kathleen) of Sandy, Ut, and Nancy Stewart (Frank) of Logan, Ut.
Funeral Services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18th at the Logan 10th Ward building, 500 East 800 North. Friends and relatives may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and from 10:30 - 11:30 am Friday morning at the church. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
